Phil Nardone,
President of PAN Communications public relations firm commissioned
Dewey Nichols to design their new corporate headquarters in a former
textile mill, in Andover, Massachusetts, built in 1922. The design
goal for this interior gut renovation of 20,000 S.F. was to create
a New York style loft space. Exposed concrete floors and ceiling decks
along with an open style plan developed the loft vernacular. The design
solution played soft surfaced, formal, rigid shapes against hard surfaced,
free-flowing curvilinear forms. The juxtaposition lent itself to a
sophisticated yet playful architectural language. |
